Andy Reed

Howdy. I'm the co-owner and lead designer of Dark Oak Studios. I went to school for art: I majored in animation, focused on storyboarding, minored in art history, dreamed in cinema scope, colored inside (and outside) the lines, made colored paper cut outs of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, spent way too many 2AMs starting charcoal drawings that were due the next day, “studied” Saturday morning cartoons to brush up on Stretch and Squash techniques, pushed a lot of pixels, covered my hands in more lead based oil paint than I should have, probably breathed in too many fumes from mineral spirits, went cross eyed over capturing all the wrinkles in Bob Dole’s face for a 2D project, and accidentally cut myself with X-acto knives far too many times. What did all this do for me, you ask? Why it landed me a job in corporate America pushing pencils, making phone calls, and going to meetings of course! So how did I get here? After having all sorts of crazy jobs doing ridiculous things I thought it might be a good idea to do something ridiculous and crazy for myself. Using artistic aspirations as a spring board, Dark Oak Studios came into fruition with a little help from the marvelous Kate Wolcott. (She's done just as many ridiculous things as I have to land her here. Thanks Kate.) Now I get to use all those things I learned as an art student in addition to all the things I learned as an assistant director, a shipping clerk, an imaging technician, a highway construction worker, and an industrial laundry guy. (Alright, maybe I don’t use the assistant director bit with the web design all too often…) On top of all that I get to work with an awesome partner who’s just as excited about creativity as I am. So enough about me, let's talk about you for a minute…
